Document Coding

Did you know that it takes almost a week for a paralegal to enter bibliographic information for a box of documents? Let TLC do the coding for you. We will make sure the work is done quickly, on schedule, and for a good price.

TLC and its partners can code large document collections quickly. We work with proven domestic and off-shore vendors. We demand the highest standards from our vendors and then check their work before sending it to you.

What is bibliographic coding?
Most people populate their litigation support databases with a mix of objective and subjective information. Objective information can be readily ascertained by an intelligent reader; subjective information can only be added by a person informed about the specific case facts. That’s why we recommend letting our coders capture the bibliographic information while you and your team focus on subjective content.

We customize every project to meet your needs. A typical bibliographic database contains the fields:

  • Starting Bates number/ID
  • Ending Bates number/ID
  • Attachment range
  • Document Title
  • Date
  • Author
  • Recipient
  • CC

Why do you need bibliographic coding?
Having coded data enables you to search and sort your document collection to quickly find what you need. You can:

  • Search and sort by date.
  • Perform specific fielded queries such as “all the documents from Smith to Jones.”
  • Find documents for which the OCR is incomplete or non-existent.

If coding is too expensive or too slow, you should consider auto coding.
